Mahathir & son’s GE14 “wayang kulit” has begun

TTF: RoS will be taken to court, says Malaysia’s longest serving Prime Minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
According to the ex-statesman, the agency ignored multiple applications and requests made by Pakatan Harapan, thereby failing in its duty as principle department to government overlooking the running of political parties and NGOs in Malaysia. The message he’s sending to the people is clear – these days, if you send a letter to a government department and fail to get a response, you simply seek recourse to the courts instead of meeting up with the agency’s officials.
Ironically, this is coming from a man whose own flesh and blood once gave the impression that it was ok for the RoS to bend rules once in a while.
On the 22nd of December 2017, Dato’ Seri Mukhriz Mahathir claimed that his decision to press ahead with PPBM’s then upcoming AGM was hinged solely on the RoS director-general’s failure to issue an official response. The son of Mahathir implied that Suriyati Ibrahim’s 25th of November 2017 statement to media was not official as it was not made out to the party.
The response Mukhriz was seeking related to a 23rd of November 2017 proposal he submitted to the RoS that sought reviews on the party constitution and matters attendant thereto. On the 16th of November 2017, the RoS already made it crystal clear that PPBM’s failure to hold an AGM within a year of its formation would put the party at risk of being deregistered.
Then, in what amounted to the stupidest of gaffes ever made by Pakatoons since Lim Guan Eng accused the RoS of conspiracy, Mukhriz suddenly decided to take Surayati to her word that she needed a week to scrutinise his proposals. What makes it so stupid is the fact that Mukhriz was referring to a 25th of November 2017 statement by the RoS director-general, the very statement he previously implied was not worthy for consideration.
Under the circumstances, why did he not take heed of Surayati’s caution – which she issued through that very statement – that all organisations needed to abide by their respective party constitutions and the Societies Act 1966 come what may? The more you read into it, the more it becomes apparent that the son of Mahathir is in the business of “selective acceptance,” meaning, he sees only what he wants to see and hears only what he wants to hear.
Besides, the fact that the RoS director-general said she needed a week to scrutinise the proposals was in no way a ticket for anyone to bend cut-and-dry rules.
