Mahathir’s many medical emergencies in 12 years
Of late, many programs or events have had to be cancelled because Mahathir is not well enough to attend, or at the last moment Mahathir has had to give the event a miss because he suddenly felt unwell. The doctors have had to be summoned to Mahathir’s house more frequently now and he has had to be rushed to hospital once too often. Over the last 12 years since the November 2006 heart attack, Mahathir has been experiencing many near-misses, which one day may no longer be a near-miss but a direct hit.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad first underwent open heart surgery in January 1989. At first, they had planned to fly him to the US for the surgery but Mahathir was in such a critical condition the doctors advised against it and instead flew the doctors in to Malaysia to perform the surgery in Kuala Lumpur.
In November 2003, Mahathir retired and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took over as Prime Minister. Around two-and-a-half years later, Mahathir launched his bid to oust Abdullah and in June 2006 he held the first of his many roadshows all over Malaysia.
Five months later, in November 2006, Mahathir had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital at 3.00am in the morning. Since then, until last month, Mahathir has been in and out of hospital for various ailments (READ THE NEWS ITEMS BELOW).
This blog posting more or less sums up the issue in detail:

In September 2007, Mahathir again underwent open heart surgery. Due to post-operation complications, a second surgery had to be performed and the doctors gave him a less than 50% chance of survival. Inter-faith prayers organised by Mahathir’s children were held and his family braced themselves for the possibility that Mahathir was not going to survive.
Yes, just over ten years ago, Mahathir’s family were preparing themselves for the strong possibility that the old man would not survive. However, somehow, he did. We then joked that Mahathir made a deal with the Angel of Death that he had unfinished business (which was to oust Prime Minister Abdullah) and that after Abdullah has been kicked out then come back for him (not a very tasteful joke, I must admit).
In April 2009, Abdullah finally left and we, again, joked: “Now that Abdullah’s gone will Mahathir be staying?” Surprisingly, Mahathir did stay, and for a good nine years more on top of that. But, at the rate he is going, can he tahan any longer?

Mahathir can no longer take the stress and rigours of politics
Mahathir should stop acting like he is far younger than his 94 and take a complete break from all this nonsense before it completely breaks him. It is bad enough Mahathir cannot last more than four hours before he gets exhausted, but he needs two days to recover before he can work again.
It was Mahathir who belittled and mocked Nik Aziz Nik Mat for still wanting to remain in politics and contest the general election at age 82. If Nik Aziz is an idiot for still wanting to be active in politics at age 82, what would that make Mahathir who is still doing the same at age 94?
