Two senior citizens from Ijok settler’s committee arrested over land deal
(The Star) – Graft busters have detained two leaders of the Ijok settler’s committee over allegations of receiving bribes involving the Alam Mutiara and Alam Utama abandoned projects task force under the Projek Rancangan Revolusi Hijau II and III Bukit Cheraka.
The two men, aged 75 and 66, were arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya on Thursday (April 5) afternoon after having their statements recorded.
A source familiar with the investigations said the duo allegedly received between RM70,000 to RM150,000 from a compensation company so that they would not safeguard the interests of the Ijok settlers in Phase 1 and 2.
Previously, seven individuals including three Datuks were arrested over the Ijok land deal.
