EC to decide on PKR logo use for Pakatan parties after formal notice

(MMO) – The Election Commission (EC) said today it will decide if Pakatan Harapan (PH) parties can contest the GE14 under the PKR umbrella after receiving formal notice from the federal Opposition alliance.

EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said it was too early to set guidelines on what was permissible for the unregistered PH pact.

“So far, I have only read it in the media. They have not formally notified us that they will all be using the PKR flag,” he told a news conference here when asked to comment on the PH pact’s decision to use PKR’s logo to represent all four parties.

PH comprises PKR, DAP, Parti Amanah Negara and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Hashim said that the EC will likely set the rules close to nomination day, as they can only enforce their authority then.
