Rafidah’s allegation over Armed Forces land untrue, says Hishammuddin

(Bernama) – Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has dismissed as totally untrue an allegation by former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz over land belonging to the Malaysian Armed Forces.

“So far, there has been no development on the matter,” he said to reporters when asked to comment on the allegation after launching a programme at the Muara Tuang Camp here today.

Rafidah had alleged that a proposal in 2008 to privatise all of the over 40,000 hectares of MAF land in the country to a company owned by three individuals had been approved.

Hishammuddin also praised the solidarity among the component parties of the Sarawak Barisan Nasional led by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg.

“All the component parties understand that our struggle is the same,” he said, adding that the solidarity was not something that was easy to forge.

He also praised the Sarawak BN for its structure and planning, saying there was no friction among the component parties during the nomination of candidates for the election.

“I was a witness to the 11th Sarawak state elections, and I hope that the spirit will be retained for the 14th general election,” he said. Only the parliamentary election will be held in Sarawak during GE14 as the state elections were held in 2016.

He said that as a representative of the BN top leadership, he was happy and relieved by the calm political situation in the state.
