Mahathir sure does grumble a lot
It is ironical that Mahathir now raises the same allegations of election fraud that the opposition accused PPBM’s Vice President, Rashid, of doing. If Mahathir thinks the system is corrupt or the odds are stacked in favour of Barisan Nasional, it is his own party Vice President, Rashid, who is guilty of doing all this. The real issue here is Pakatan Harapan is going to lose GE14 and Mahathir is preparing the public for Pakatan’s loss by alleging fraud as the excuse to why they lost.

Just before the 2013 General Election, the Pakatan Rakyat leaders went all over the country saying that Barisan Nasional was going to cheat to win the election. After the election, they said that the lights went out due to a power failure in certain places while the votes were being counted, extra ballot boxes were brought in to certain places, tens of thousands of phantom voters were flown in from Bangladesh, and so on.
All this was later proven false. Even the Bangladesh Embassy denied that tens of thousands of its nationals were flown in to vote in Malaysia, which would require more than 100 chartered planes. And the places where they said the lights went out confirmed that they never experienced any power failure plus the opposition workers in the places where they said extra ballot boxes were brought in denied that incident.
This was merely a pre-emptive strike on the part of Pakatan. They knew they would not win GE13 so before the election they ‘predicted’ they would lose due to fraud and after the election they raised all sorts of allegations of fraud to explain why they lost. Now they are doing it again. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in his blog today that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is going to cheat in GE14 on 9 May 2018 so that when they lose the election they can save face by blaming it on fraud like they did in 2013.

Mahathir is more or less confirming that Pakatan Harapan is going to lose GE14
Salleh Said Keruak, the Minister of Communication and Multimedia, made a very valid point in his blog posting above, which was a response to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s blog posting today alleging that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is going to cheat to win the 14th General Election on 9th May 2018.
Actually, what Mahathir said is exactly the same as what Barisan Alternatif (which at that time comprised PKR, DAP, PAS and PRM) told Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, who was the Chairman of Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia (SPR) from 17th November 2000 to 30th December 2008.
Rashid is now the Vice President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM). But when he was SPR’s Chairman, the opposition was very angry with him and accused him of fraud in the 2004 and 2008 general elections.

Why is Mahathir accusing Najib of cheating when it is his own party Vice President, Rashid, who the opposition said is the mastermind of SPR’s cheating? When the opposition questioned SPR’s failure in ensuring free and fair elections, Rashid replied that SPR’s job is NOT to ensure free and fair elections but to ensure that Malay political power is perpetuated. When the opposition opposed the postal voting system, Rashid replied that without postal voting not a single Cabinet Minister will win the election.
This was what Rashid said in reply to the protests from the opposition. And now Mahathir is accusing Najib of fraud when — if fraud really does exist, as Mahathir says — it is his own party Vice President, Rashid, who is the culprit.
