Azmin says GE14 candidate selection always up for discussion
Azmin also confirmed that he paid a visit to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today when the latter was at the University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for medical treatment, but declined to elaborate on what was discussed between the both of them.
(MMO) – The discussion process on candidate selection for the 14th general election should be adhered to, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said today.
“The process has been in place since the past several elections, and should be followed as such,” he told reporters during his working visit to meet Kuala Selangor residents.
Azmin was responding to fellow vice-president and Batu MP Tian Chua who said he would be fine if the party decides not to field him to defend his Batu federal seat, but urged the party leadership against placing candidates at the last minute to “accommodate certain factions” and lobbying.
Azmin said any division can submit their proposed candidates for consideration.
“It must go from the division level to state, then to the federal level for it to be considered,” he added.
Azmin refused to say whether PKR’s candidates list would be revealed by tonight, but said it would be announced once it’s done ‘before the nomination date’.
Azmin also confirmed that he paid a visit to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today when the latter was at the University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for medical treatment, but declined to elaborate on what was discussed between the both of them.
The meeting occurred following a reported rift within the party over GE14 candidates which were rejected by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
