The opposition illogical logic

So, this is the doctrine Lim Kit Siang and the opposition pact is propagating. It does not matter what Mahathir did in the past. What matters is you can use Mahathir to win the 14th general election. If Mahathir can swing the Malay votes then you need to wipe his slate clean and regard him as a ‘born again’ Mahathir.

As of now there are still many who would rather not choose either one (not voting) OR choose both (spoiled vote). These are the ones who still harp on the past and cannot forgive TDM. That posting on Australian Hussein Abdul Hamid’s blog is very telling. Basically, they are propagating the politics of matlamat menghalalkan cara or the end justifies the means. This is also known as Machiavellianism or the employment of cunning and duplicity.

In short, you use any trick in the book and by fair means or foul you must win at all costs.

An example of this doctrine would be if Muslims come across a community of infidels (kafir) and you invite them to convert to Islam and they refuse, you can kill a number of the stubborn ones until the rest of the infidels agree to convert to Islam. No doubt 10 or 20 infidels need to be murdered but if that results in the rest of the 1,000 becoming Muslims then that is justified.

Another example would be such as in 1999 when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made promises to the Chinese educationists to win their votes. After the general election, Mahathir went back on what he promised and called the Chinese educationists Communists. That frightened them into shutting up because they ran the risk of detention without trial under the ISA for being Communists.

So, this is the doctrine Lim Kit Siang and the opposition pact is propagating. It does not matter what Mahathir did in the past. What matters is you can use Mahathir to win the 14th general election. You explain to the people Mahathir has reformed. You explain to the people Mahathir has turned over a new leaf. You explain to the people Mahathir has repented. You explain to the people Mahathir now regrets what he did in the past. You explain to the people Mahathir is no longer a racist. You explain to the people Mahathir is now a libertarian. You explain to the people Mahathir is now a liberal and now accepts gays. You explain to the people once Mahathir becomes Prime Minister he will return to the country the RM100 billion he stole.

In short, you tell the people anything they would like to hear and not worry about whether it is true or not because all of it is not true anyway.

You tell the people you are on the side of truth and you claim the moral high ground even if you know you are lying and are using immoral means to win votes.

That, in short, is what Kit Siang and the opposition pact is saying. And that, in a nutshell, is how the DAP-led opposition pact plans to win GE14.
