Pakatan man claims the rich are spared from GST

Abdul Rahman claimed the rich do not have to pay GST because they can simply claim it back from their companies.

(MMO) – According to Kedah Pakatan Harapan strategic director Abdul Rahman Ahmad, the rich are mostly spared from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) because they can claim it as expenses from their companies.

Speaking at a ceramah in Sik, Kedah last night, Abdul Rahman told the crowd that when his “millionaire friends” from Kuala Lumpur visit and they have a meal together, his “rich friends” would ask for the receipt in order to file claims.

“I have a friend who came from Kuala Lumpur. He came back to Alor Setar and we had breakfast at Nasi Lemak Royale. He ordered a lot… freshwater lobster, mutton… I was surprised and asked myself if he is for real.

“The breakfast cost RM120. When he paid for it, he asked for the receipt so I assumed that he does not have to pay GST because he can claim it from his company and his company will deduct the GST and he won’t have to pay,” said Abdul Rahman.

He said he encountered the same situation with another millionaire friend where the meal they shared cost around RM100 and he observed his friend requesting for a receipt after the meal.

By observing his two friends, the former academic came to the conclusion that the rich do not have to pay GST because they can simply claim it back from their companies.
