Umno info chief claims ‘Malay tsunami’ quashed before takeoff
(Bernama) – The “Malay Tsunami” which the DAP tried to mastermind by using Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to draw support from the Malays was snuffed out even before it could take off, said Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said this could be seen by the fact that there were PH leaders who had to migrate from their strongholds because they could not command support apart from the strength of PAS which had thrown a spanner in the works to their plans.
“Actually the DAP knows it is not easy to split Malay voters, that is why they are placing others (from other parties) at the front to campaign for them while they continue to buttress their strongholds to wield their influence.
“They also know their lifeline is their ardent supporters and are only using the others to get additional votes and support. If this style of campaigning fails, DAP has nothing to lose as compared to the other players,” he told Bernama in an interview recently.
Wan Azizah, the incumbent MP for Permatang Pauh in Penang has migrated to the supposedly safe seat of Pandan in Kuala Lumpur while her daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar has fled her Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat to Permatang Pauh.
Annuar, who is defending his Ketereh parliamentary seat in the GE14, said DAP was well-aware that in order to succeed in achieving the Malay tsunami, the Opposition party had to manipulate Dr Mahathir.
He said Dr Mahathir was obviously waging a personal vendetta against Umno and BN.
He explained that DAP would only be powerful in politics, especially in the PH, through this modus operandi and that the Malays should wake up from being fooled by the concept of ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ which DAP had been struggling for over the years.
“Will the people let DAP to be in power after GE14? Do compare with BN and think which one is the best before making the decision on polling day,” he said.
It was reported that DAP claimed to be using Dr Mahathir to garner the Malay votes, and this was proven when the Perai state seat candidate, Prof Dr Ramasamy openly admitted that what Dr Mahathir had done (when he was prime minister) was indeed unforgivable and would not be forgotten.
“He (Dr Mahathir) is a bad man. People asked why did we accept him? It is not because we have forgotten what he has done. We accepted Mahathir to pull Malay votes,” Ramasamy was reported to have said in a talk recently, according to a report carried at https://therakyat.com/2018/
