DAP’s damage control creating more damage

Discarding DAP’s rocket logo in favour of PKR’s mata lebam logo is thus far the biggest and most serious blunder Lim Kit Siang has ever made in his half-century political career. And why is it that all over Malaysia DAP is contesting GE14 under PKR’s symbol but in Sabah and Sarawak they are using the rocket symbol? Even more important is the fact that Mahathir has not stepped foot in Sabah and Sarawak.

DAP does not seem confident of the PKR symbol, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak. Salleh Keruak added:

“Lim Kit Siang is in a dilemma because the Chinese are not responding positively to the PKR symbol as he had hoped and there appears to be some resistance. He should have listened to Chen Man Hin instead of listening to Mahathir in the choice of party symbol because the DAP supporters are more familiar with the ‘Rocket’ symbol.

 

Now DAP is attempting to do damage control by displaying both the PKR symbol as well as DAP’s rocket symbol so that they can pacify their Chinese supporters as well as win over the opposition Malays. Kit Siang hopes they can then retain their Chinese support and at the same time win Malay support, which is a sort of deception and shows DAP is not confident of the PKR symbol.

DAP thought they were being clever by hiding behind the PKR symbol. And now that this has upset the Chinese they are ‘bringing back’ the rocket symbol while not wanting to discard the PKR symbol. And this is creating an even bigger mess for DAP.”

The reason DAP is using the PKR symbol is to trigger a Malay Tsunami. DAP feels it has already cornered 95% of the Chinese votes and all it needs is 50% of the Malay votes to replace Barisan Nasional as the federal government. But instead of getting 50% of the Malays votes, the opposition pact is down to less than 70% of the Chinese votes.

DAP is currently trying to do damage control by flying both the rocket logo and PKR’s mata lebam logo at the same time. But then the damage has already been done, and with Nga Kor Ming and Superman Hew Kuan Yau shooting their mouths off, DAP can more or less kiss the Malay votes goodbye.

Nothing seems to be going DAP’s way these last few days. PKR’s mata lebam symbol is being rejected by the Chinese. The Malays are angry that PKR has sold out to DAP. DAP’s star penceramah are shooting their own feet. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad may lose in Langkawi. His son, Mukhriz, has already lost even before the votes are cast or counted in Jerlun.

Even more important is the fact that Mahathir is presenting himself as a national leader but he has not stepped foot in Sabah and Sarawak. According to Mahathir, Sabah and Sarawak are Barisan Nasional’s ‘fixed deposit’ and the opposition pact is going to take it away from BN. If so then why is Mahathir neglecting Sabah and Sarawak? And why is it that all over Malaysia DAP is contesting GE14 under PKR’s symbol but in Sabah and Sarawak they are using the rocket symbol?

This is because Sabahans and Sarawakians do not want to see Mahathir or PKR in their states so DAP has to make sure that Mahathir and PKR are not seen in Sabah and Sarawak.
