Anwar: PKR strongly supports Dr M’s leadership
(The Star) – PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that he has told the Prime Minister about uneasiness felt by PKR leaders who want a more inclusive negotiation for Cabinet positions.
In a statement, Anwar said he also reiterated PKR’s strong support to the leadership of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who visited him on Saturday evening.
“My views were well received by Tun Dr Mahathir, however these must be decided together by the Pakatan Harapan presidential council,” said Anwar.
He said he also expressed his views to PKR, to ensure that the Pakatan government under the leadership of Dr Mahathir and his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will remain strong and solid.
“That is why the Prime Minister came over to the hospital to meet up and discuss and the whole process went on well.
“We discussed on several portfolios to be studied by the Prime Minister which will also go through the Pakatan Harapan presidential council,” he told reporters outside the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital after meeting Anwar on Sunday afternoon.
Azmin added that PKR fully supports the leadership of Dr Mahathir and Dr Wan Azizah as the top leaders to head the new Government.
Azmin also presented the Selangor exco line-up to Anwar during the meeting. They will be sworn in on Monday (May 14) afternoon.
