Dr M: Gani said was about to charge Najib when axe fell

(MMO) – Former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail claimed he had prepared charges against Datuk Seri Najib Razak before he was abruptly removed, according to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Gani had been leading a special task force to investigate the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal prior to his enforced departure, which the government then purported to be due to his failing health.

“I met with him yesterday to learn what happened when he was removed and what was the result of his investigations,” Dr Mahathir recounted from their meeting yesterday at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here.

“He claimed he was preparing to charge Najib and that morning, he was deprived of his position,” Dr Mahathir told reporters today.
