Police report lodged against MACC chief over failure to report attempted bribe
(The Star) – A police report has been lodged against the new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull for failing to report an attempted bribe.
Datuk Lokman Noor Adam, a self-labelled “scrutineer” of the new government’s actions, lodged the report at Kelana Jaya police station on Wednesday (May 23).
He said Mohd Shukri had admitted he was offered a bribe from an MP to shut down the 1Malaysia Development Berhad probe.
“He admitted it during a press conference but did not report the bribery attempt, which is a crime under Section 25 (1) and (2) of the MACC Act 2009.
“Mohd Shukri, in his press conference also showed that he is prejudiced towards Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and there is subjudice,” he said after lodging the report.
He alleged that it is clear that the appointment of Mohd Shukri was to exact revenge against the former prime minister.
A Petaling Jaya police spokesperson confirmed the report had been lodged.
Lokman is the former finance ministry strategic communications director and an Umno member.
