Dr M confirms scrapping of high-speed rail project with Singapore
(The Star) – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has confirmed the scrapping of the High-Speed Rail (HSR) project with Singapore.
The Prime Minister said that the Government had to talk to Singapore about it and the compensation that needed to be paid.
“It’s not beneficial because of the huge amount of money involved,” he told reporters after the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia supreme council meeting here on Monday (May 28).
When questioned, he said that he had been told that the Government would need to pay RM500mil as compensation.
Also present during the press conference were Pribumi president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and other party leaders.
