I will charge 1MDB culprits, says Tommy on first day at work

Newly appointed AG says he has studied documents on the troubled state firm.

(FMT) – Newly appointed Attorney-General Tommy Thomas said his first duty would be to bring criminal charges against “alleged wrongdoers” in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

“The government’s first and immediate priority is all matters pertaining to 1MDB,” Thomas told the media on his first day in office.

Tommy said he had studied documents linked to 1MDB.

“We will institute criminal and civil proceedings in our courts against the alleged wrongdoers,” he said.
