PAS will emerge as the dominant Malay party once Umno dies
The death of Barisan Nasional and Umno is good news for PAS. Currently the Malays are split into five. Once Umno dies and the one-third of the Malays who voted Pakatan Harapan (the other two-thirds were equally shared between Umno and PAS) begin to realise they were conned, the Malays will swing to PAS and PAS can garner probably 60-70% of the Malay votes in GE15. With Umno dead and buried, the Malays would rather go to PAS than to a Chinese-dominated Pakatan Harapan.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Some Barisan Nasional parties in Sabah have left the coalition. Some Barisan Nasional parties in Sarawak have left the coalition. Some in MCA are saying that MCA should leave the Barisan Nasional coalition. Some in Gerakan are saying that Umno should be kicked out of the Barisan Nasional coalition. Some are saying that Barisan Nasional is as good as dead. Some are saying Umno will never rise against but will remain like MCA, MIC and Gerakan — a mosquito or fringe party.
To people like me who have been a hardcore PAS supporter for more than 40 years since the mid-1970s (I migrated to Terengganu in 1974), it really does not matter which way it is going to go as long as PAS still controls Kelantan and Terengganu and has a strong presence in the other Malay heartland states.
Pakatan Harapan is going all out to kill Umno and that will benefit PAS immensely
PAS actually did very well in both Kelantan and Terengganu last month and improved its performance over the previous elections. And once Kelantan and Terengganu get back the 5% Oil Royalty and it is increased to 20% as Pakatan Harapan promised during the GE14 election campaign, money is no longer going to be a problem for these Malay states.
It is actually just that Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan be given 20% Oil Royalty. After all, this is what Pakatan Harapan promised. More importantly, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan are Bumiputera states. So why should they just get 5% Oil Royalty while the bulk of the oil money is diverted to develop the non-Malay states and states where the Chinese are the majority or 50% of the population?
The even bigger victory for PAS will be when it inherits the Umno votes once Pakatan Harapan, MCA and Gerakan kill Umno

So, on this hari baik bulan baik of Hari Raya, I urge the Umno Malays to not be too sad or depressed (I know many are). Once Barisan Nasional dies (which is bound to happen), and once Umno dies (which will most likely happen), you can all turn to PAS and what used to be an Islamic party can be transformed into an Islamic-Nationalist party to suit both the Islamists and the Nationalists.
