Bank account of Kelantan politician among 408 accounts frozen
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today confirmed that a bank account belonged to a Kelantan politician had been frozen by the 1MDB special task force.
(NST) – Sources said the account was among 408 bank accounts with funds totalling RM1.1 billion seized by the special task force, believed to have received funds from 1MDB.
“The bank account of the politician, who also holds a senior position in a political party in the state, was frozen recently.
“The special task force does not rule out the possibility that there will be more freezing of accounts in future from any state,” said the sources.
Meanwhile, the state politician when contacted by NSTP, refused to comment on the issue.
It was reported that a total of 408 bank accounts with funds totalling RM1.1 billion have been frozen by the task force between June 26 and 29.
The bank accounts mostly belonged to individuals, political parties and non-governmental organisations.
Eighty-one individuals and 55 companies whose accounts were frozen were believed to have received funds from 1MDB.
