Wan Azizah: I am not going to step down as DPM or Pandan MP for Anwar
Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail does not intend to relinquish her position as Deputy Prime Minister following her husband’s win as PKR president.
(The Star) – She also confirmed that she will not be letting go of her position as Pandan MP to give way to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Definitely not (stepping down). God willing (will remain),” she said when pressed by reporters at the Parliament lobby on Monday.
On Sunday (Aug 5), Anwar won the PKR president position uncontested, taking over from Dr Wan Azizah who did not defend her post.
“Of course his leadership is important to the benefit of the party and Pakatan as a whole,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.
Nurul Izzah Anwar also denied plans to vacate her parliamentary seat to give way to her father.
“I have some projects lined up for Permatang Pauh and I am committed to seeing them through as the MP throughout my entire five-year term,” she said.
