Dep Minister affair allegation being probed under defamation, say police

(The Star) – Police have urged the public to stop speculating on the case involving Kota Belud MP Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (pic) until investigations are fully completed.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah confirmed that police had received a report from Munirah, who was accused of being the third party in a marriage.

Omar said police also received a report from Munirah’s accuser, who is the wife of her male aide.

Omar said the case is being investigated for defamation under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia (CMA) Act 1998.

“We have received the two reports and are carrying out investigations. We urge all quarters not to speculate until the investigation has concluded.

“We don’t want to tarnish anyone’s reputation. We are taking a firm stand in preserving the dignity of all parties involved,” he told reporters at a press conference in the state police headquarters on Tuesday (Sept 25).

Munirah, 36, who is Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment deputy minister, has denied all the allegations against her.

She said the allegations posted in the controversial blogger Raja Petra’s page – MalaysiaToday – were meant to defame her (READ HERE).

According to the blogger, the man, who is one of Munirah’s aides, had even beaten up his wife after she uncovered some WhatsApp messages between the two on his mobile phone.
