Govt spends RM6.31m on visits of PM, delegation abroad
(Bernama) – The official visits of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his delegation abroad since he became the prime minister on May 10 cost a total of RM6.31 million, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong said the cost was for eight official visits abroad and included the expenditure of the accompanying officials.
“The expenses are paid accordingly as stipulated in the Members of Parliament (Remuneration) Act 1980,” he said in a written reply dated Oct 16 to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PAS-Pasir Mas).
Since becoming the seventh prime minister, Dr Mahathir has visited Japan, China, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Brunei Darussalam and attended the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York.
