Annuar Musa claims Umno MPs have been asked to join Bersatu
(The Star) – Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic) claims that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has approached MPs from his party to jump ship.
“There were those who were wooed directly and others through a middleman. The idea is to strengthen Bersatu,” he said to reporters when met at the Parliament lobby on Monday (Oct 29).
However, Annuar said that Bersatu’s move is understandable as the Umno splinter party needed experienced leaders to strengthen the party.
“We understand that Bersatu is weak. With only 13 parliamentary seats, it isn’t stable, as us politicians understand,” he said.
The Ketereh MP also said that that he would remain in Umno, as voters in his constituency had given him the mandate.
Annuar also dismissed Bersatu supreme council member Datuk A. Kadir Jasim claims, who said that there was a possibility that as many as 40 MPs from Umno might jump ship.
“Kadir is still learning to be a politician. So it’s understandable,” he quipped.
