DAP’s Aziz Bari behind plot to oust Perak MB

(Bernama) – Opposition Leader Datuk Saarani Mohamad (BN-Kota Tampan) today dropped the biggest hint on the identity of the Pakatan Harapan assemblyman who met Umno representatives to topple Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

“Go and ask Tebing Tinggi (Dr Abdul Aziz Bari) whether he was the one who approached the Umno elected representatives to oust the mentri besar,” he said in his winding-up speech on the 2019 state budget.

Abdul Aziz, who is Education, Technology, Science and Environment Committee chairman, was not present when the claim was made but came in later.

He is the Perak DAP vice-chairman.

Previously, Saarani had alleged the exco member (who he did not identify then) had met five Umno assemblymen in five different locations in the state and Kuala Lumpur between Nov 2 and Dec 1.

“Exco members will say ‘Yes sir, we support’ in front of him but will resort to bad mouthing that he is not capable and did not have either a certificate or degree,” Saarani had said.

Earlier, Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin (Bersatu-Sungai Manik) challenged Saarani to reveal the identity of the person involved in the purported plot to topple Ahmad Faizal either in the sitting or outside.

“A lot has been said but no identity revealed,“ said the mentri besar’s adviser.

In his reply to Zainol, Saarani said: ”This is the moment everyone was waiting for.”

“We have proof to show that the exco member had approached my assemblymen,” he added.

Recently Saarani alleged there was a possibility of a state election due to an impending vote of no confidence against Ahmad Faizal.

The Perak Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan chairman dismissed talk of a “coup” against him and described his administration as one big family.

However Saarani reiterated that the exco member was adamant in pursuing the plans to topple the Mentri Besar.
