Today’s rally and the Chinese response to the rally is evidence that the Malay-Chinese racial divide is permanent and can never be repaired. In fact, the Malays and Chinese no longer filter or control their comments like in the past. Both sides of the divide are now very open and vocal about their hatred for each other.

Judging by the comments in the social media, WhatsApp groups, WeeChat groups, etc., it looks like the anti-ICERD rally today has been turned into a Malay versus Chinese affair.
The Chinese comments show they are clearly opposed to today’s anti-ICERD rally, which they say is organised by Malay-Muslim extremists, supremacists, racists and thieves. The Chinese even dispute the turnout (which FMT estimates at only 30,000 and Malaysiakini at 80,000) and say the photographs and videos are doctored and lifted from the rally in Indonesia.
