Malays need Mahathir more than they realise

And that, said Tun Dr Mahathir many times since 2006, is why the Malays will be hamba di negeri sendiri while the ‘foreign powers’ will end up owning Malay land. Hey, this is not what I say, this is what Mahathir said.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

While the Chinese and Indians unite solidly behind DAP — and by extension Pakatan Harapan, as long as DAP is still part of Pakatan Harapan — the Malays are splintered into at least 13 pieces.

It appears that Nurul Izzah Anwar, Khairy Jamaluddin and Rafizi Ramli are going to start a new third force (or is it fourth column, fifth column, sixth column, or whatever?). It is said they are hoping to target the seven million or so ‘younger voters’, or 35% of the 20 million registered voters for the next general election.

With margins in the single digits, 35% is a very large swing indeed.

But then the new ‘Young Workers Party’ will not be focusing on just the Malay population. It would need to get support from all races and ethnicities, Sabah and Sarawak included.

The Malays, for all intents and purposes, are currently in a fooking mess.

The Malays are in a fooking mess and need Mahathir more than they realise

PKR is split into three — between the pro-Anwar, pro-Mahathir and pro-DAP factions. PPBM is split into two — regarding whether to work with Umno or with DAP (they cannot have both, they need to choose or the other). PAS is split into two — regarding whether to work with Umno or stay ‘neutral’. Umno is split into five regarding whether to stay neutral, work with PAS, work with PPBM, work with PKR, or just bring Najib Tun Razak back. Then we have Amanah — that is chasing its own tail.

So, there you have it. The Chinese and Indians bersatu. And the Malays are splintered into 13 pieces.

And that, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad many times since 2006, is why the Malays will be hamba di negeri sendiri while the ‘foreign powers’ will end up owning Malay land. Hey, this is not what I say, this is what Mahathir said.

It looks like the Malays need Mahathir more than they realise. If not, the Malays are going to end up as hamba di negeri sendiri, as what Mahathir said is going to happen.
