Azmin Ali And 20 Other PKR MPs Jumping To Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia
(The Coverage) – A message saying that Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and 20 other PKR MPs will jump to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has been making its rounds on the social media.
Party members have been sharing the message but PKR leaders have denied this will happen.
PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin said that it was unlikely and not true.
“I don’t know which group is propagating this,” she said.
PKR central leadership council member Sivarasa Rasiah also denied that Azmin is leaving the party.
There has been much talk of MPs switching parties – especially from Umno to Bersatu – in the past weeks.
There has also been vehement opposition against taking in ex-Umno MPs from party leaders such as Nurul Izzah Anwar and Rafizi Ramli, who are not aligned to Azmin.
Azmin has been contacted to obtain his comment, but has yet to respond.
Out of the 20 candidates selected to be on the Supreme Council, 14 are said to be from Azmin’s team. Those who won positions on the council include Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Rashid Hasnon, Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, Sungai Buloh MP Sivarasa Rasiah and Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Elizabeth Wong.
Azmin Ali Can Bring Along As Many As 20 PKR MPs With Him If He Joins PPBM – This Would End Up Putting Anwar Ibrahim In A Difficult Situation
“Although everyone has largely kept their promises, things can change in the future. Therefore it is important to keep an eye out for November,” he said.
Were Azmin to lose, Hoo said it is also possible that he could end up joining Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) instead, bringing along several PKR MPs with him.
“Azmin can bring along as many as 20 MPs with him if he joins PPBM. This would end up putting Anwar in a delicate and difficult situation,” he said.
