Have the police painted themselves into a corner?

So, if they cannot charge Najib and Rosmah, in a couple of months’ time the police need to return all the cash and valuables to them. But how do they do that if not everything they have confiscated is still there or are no longer in the same condition? It seems a lot of the more delicate items have been damaged and are no longer in the same condition as when the police took them away.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Normally, senior police officers are given a two-year extension when they retire — sometimes even three years. Commercial Crime Investigation Department director, Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh, however, was asked to go after just six months — after shooting to fame for his raid on the Pavilion Residences. Why?

Is this because of his booboo that is embarrassing the police force and the Pakatan Harapan government?

The police said they confiscated more than RM1 billion worth of cash and valuables, which they allege former Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and ‘First Lady’ Rosmah Mansor bought with money stolen from 1MDB.

That was about eight months ago. Over the next four months they must either charge Najib and Rosmah for this RM1 billion ‘theft’ or else return the cash and valuables to them.

They problem, however, is they cannot charge Najib and Rosmah mainly because the valuables were not stolen or bought with stolen money — and a large portion of them were presents — nor can they return the cash and valuables.

Why can’t they just return the cash and valuables to Najib and Rosmah? Simple! Quite a bit of the cash (tens of millions) is not there any longer. In fact, they declared just RM114 million whereas it is far more than that. And as for the valuables, not everything is there any longer as well.
