Cops raid law firm in 1MDB probe


(TheStar) – Law firm Rahmat Lim & Partners was raided in connection with the search for documents linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd, says Deputy Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin.

A team of CCID officers raided the office in Bangsar at about 10am yesterday, said the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department acting director.

“We were there to seize several documents relevant to the 1MDB investigation,” he said.

Sources said that several CCID officers headed to the law firm’s office after obtaining a court order.

“The police had given the law firm a chance to cooperate but they failed to do so, thus the police obtained a court order,” said a source

At a press conference after launching the Crime Prevention Patrol Programme, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said Bukit Aman is still investigating the 1MDB sovereign fund.

Asked on how much of the investigation have been completed, the IGP said he could not reveal details.

“I am constantly checking the progress of the investigation,” he said.

On the Crime Prevention Patrol Programme, Mohamad Fuzi said the patrols has managed to reduced crime rate significantly.

“In Kuala Lumpur, crime has gone down some 10.9% last year compared to 2017. For the rest of the country, crime has been reduced some 11.9%,” he said.
