PAS leaders claim innocence

(TheStar) – Accusations of PAS members flaunting their wealth went a notch higher when images of PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi posing on a superbike began spreading on social media.

In the pictures shared, the son of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was seen seated on a BMW R1200RT and giving a thumbs up at a petrol station.

It is learnt that the sport touring motorcycle costs more than RM128,000.

However, Muhammad Khalil, who is Batu Buruk assemblyman, said the superbike isn’t his and that the picture was taken two years ago.

“All these allegations are false,” he said.

Muhammad Khalil isn’t the only PAS politician embroiled in accusations of living it up on ill-gotten gains.

Earlier allegations of PAS Mursyidul Am (spiritual leader) Datuk Hashim Jasin owning a Porsche Cayman surfaced as well.

Like Muhammad Khalil, Hashim also denied owning the luxury car, saying that his son bought it for a used-car business.

He had allegedly used an Approved Permit (AP) that was under Hashim’s name.

Hashim said he was entitled to the AP when he served as the Arau MP between 1998 to 1999.

Hashim questioned what was wrong in buying the second-hand Porsche Cayman for RM100,000 years ago.

He said his son Faiz paid for the car which he had since sold off.

“But allegations of misdeeds keep resurfacing for political reasons.

“I’ve another son who had to use my name to secure a bank loan to buy a Honda CRV some years ago when I was serving as the Sanglang assemblyman (1999 to 2013),” he said.

“My son serviced the loan, as he was using the car. Not me.

“I drive a Proton Saga,” he added.

On claims by certain quarters that Najib extended RM90mil to PAS leaders, Hashim said: “Why would the then PM give such a huge amount of money to a rival party that was going all out to fight Umno at the last general election. It does not make sense.”
