MACC files police report on Raja Petra’s Penang tunnel claims

(Malaysiakini) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has lodged a police report over claims by a political analyst

Raja Petra Kamarudin’s expose based on supposedly leaked investigation papers on the Penang undersea tunnel project alleged that several DAP leaders including Lim Guan Eng had received kickbacks from the project’s contractor.

This, he claimed, was revealed by the contractor after the MACC allegedly arrested him and recorded his statement.

Utusan Online reported MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull as saying that his officer had lodged the report on Thursday.

However, Shukri didn’t reveal which police station the report was lodged at and whether the investigation papers which Raja Petra shared on his website were authentic.

When contacted by Malaysiakini, Shukri said that he would let the police carry out a thorough investigation.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad called Raja Petra a liar in his response to his allegations.

When asked by the media, Mahathir briefly said: “Raja Petra is a liar. He’s been telling lies all the time, and you still believe it.”
