Occupy movement leaders found guilty of causing a public nuisance in Hong Kong

(SCMP) – Verdicts have been handed down for nine key figures accused of organising the 2014 Occupy movement, a series of pro-democracy protests that shut down substantial portions of Hong Kong’s business district.

The three founders of the movement, academics Benny Tai Yiu-ting, 55, Dr Chan Kin-man, 60, and the Reverend Chu Yiu-ming, 75, were all found guilty of one count of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance. Tai and Chan were also convicted of one count of inciting others to commit a public nuisance.
