PAS Youth pledges support for Dr M’s leadership

(FMT) – PAS Youth today pledged their support for the leadership of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Its newly minted chief, Khairil Nizam Khirudin, said this is based on the party’s “Islamic politics” policy and belief that national stability will guarantee the welfare of the people.

Khairul said this is also in line with PAS’ desire to be a “constructive opposition”.

“Even though PAS is part of the opposition, PAS Youth wishes to recommend to the (party) leadership to imbibe this concept of working together.

“We must unite the rakyat with the Islamic formula.

“That is why PAS members should not be shy and hesitate to forgive our political enemies,” he said in his winding-up speech at PAS’ 65th Muktamar here today.

Khairil, who replaced Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi, the eldest son of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, as the PAS Youth chief on Thursday, said it was part of PAS’ mission and vision to forge a close relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims

He also said PAS should come up with a plan to introduce the teaching of other languages at national schools.

This, he said, would not strengthen racial harmony but solve the issue of unemployment of teachers as well.

“We believe that when the teaching of the Jawi, Mandarin and Tamil languages is made compulsory in national schools, it can bring forth change.

“More teachers will then be hired to teach these subjects,” he added.
