Hisham: Pakatan should focus on economic and social welfare issues

(The Star) – The Pakatan Harapan Government should focus on addressing economic and social welfare issues, instead of being obsessed in digging up the wrongdoings of the former Barisan Nasional administration says Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic).

The former defence minister expressed concern over the uncertain economic situation and said the public needs to know what Pakatan had done in its first year of administration.

“If the economy is not moving, there’s no foreign direct investment coming in.

“Stop digging up the past and stop pointing fingers at the previous administration. If you want to do it, then do your job at the same time because the public wants to know about it,” he said to reporters when met at Parliament lobby on Monday (July 1).

“Many countries around the region are growing and developing, while we are too caught up with our daily political scenarios. It’s not helping us to move forward,” he said.

Hishammuddin appeared unfazed by ongoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations into controversial land swap deals involving the Defence Ministry during his tenure.

“It’s up to the MACC. I have been very careful in my tenure. I think they will do their jobs professionally, so I have nothing to hide.”

Hishammuddin also said that it was a good thing that he was being investigated.

“They are digging up every single thing down there, which is good for me. God-willing, it will cleanse my name,” he said.
