The IGP’s roller coaster ride
This is what happens when you sell your soul, whether to the devil or to the political masters. You need to drop your pants and bend over when asked to. And Hamid has been told to drop his pants and bend over and save Azmin. And that is what Hamid has obediently done.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abdul Hamid Bador, has seen a somewhat of a roller coaster ride these last few years. He became prominent in 2015 when he was then still the Deputy Director of the Special Branch (SB). His boss, the Director of the SB, Akhil Bulat, recommended Hamid to take over as the new SB Director but the IGP then, Khalid Abu Bakar, blocked it.
The problem was, while Akhil wanted Hamid, Khalid had his own candidate in mind. Hamid was so outraged (he appears to have anger management issues) that he charged into Khalid’s office and shouted that if he (Hamid) ever became IGP, Khalid would be the first one he would send to jail for all sorts of crimes.

What crimes Khalid had committed that warranted him being sent to jail were never revealed. But Khalid sent Hamid into cold storage and the war turned nasty. Khalid was said to be pro-Najib Tun Razak. So, to take the war to the next level, Hamid openly supported Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad just to be on the opposite side of his boss, Khalid.
Anyway, Hamid’s open support for Mahathir paid off, and soon after Pakatan Harapan took over the federal government, Hamid was brought back as the new SB Director and then the new IGP. But political patronage has its price, a very heavy price, and now Hamid has to repay his political master with his pound of flesh.
Mahathir wants Azmin Ali protected so the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) has to make sure Azmin does not get dragged down due to the gay porn video scandal.
Every man and his dog know that it is Azmin in that gay porn video. However, Hamid has no choice but to announce that it is not Azmin and, in fact, they cannot identify the man in the mirror… sorry, the man in the video.
Yes, they cannot identify who is in the gay porn video but they do know it is NOT Azmin.
