Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been handed an ultimatum. He must appoint Anwar Ibrahim as his Deputy Prime Minister by November 2020 and Prime Minister by May 2021. So Mahathir has roughly another 20-21 months before he goes into retirement.
Who will be the new Deputy Prime Minister when Anwar takes over in May 2021 or will there be more than one Deputy Prime Minister — DPM1, DPM2 and DPM3? That currently is being kept under wraps but DPM1 will be Malay, DPM2 Chinese and DPM3 will be from East Malaysia. That is what Anwar and DAP have agreed.
If there is not too much protest from the Malays, it may even be DPM1 Chinese, DPM2 Malay and DPM3 from East Malaysia. That is ‘Plan A’ if they can get away with it. It is also agreed that the Finance Minister will also be from DAP.

Anwar, therefore, is confident he will not need to wait till May 2021 to become Prime Minister. It might even be earlier than May 2020. That is what Anwar told his inner circle.
Clearly Mahathir is living on borrowed time and Anwar knows this. So the November 2020 dateline for Mahathir to make him the Deputy Prime Minister and May 2021 for Mahathir to retire is a purely academic exercise. It is just to register the fact that he is going to be the next Deputy Prime Minister by November next year and then Prime Minister by May 2021 even if Mahathir lives to be 100.
Anwar is clearly obsessed with becoming Prime Minister. He is so obsessed it has become a sort of disease or mental disorder. One reason Anwar has gone to Mekah is to pray in front of the Kaaba for Allah’s help to become Prime Minister. Maybe he can also pray for Allah’s help to kick his obsession for jambus as well. His obsession for lubang tahi is as serious as his obsession to become Prime Minister.
