LTTE supporter campaigned for DAP, Najib tells govt
Najib Razak today questioned Putrajaya’s claim that DAP has no links with a defunct separatist group, saying a video featuring a minister from the party and a South Indian politician suggests otherwise.
(FMT) – The former prime minister said the video showed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) supporter Senthamizhan Seeman campaigning for DAP in the run-up to the May 9 polls.
The video, which runs for almost two minutes, also features DAP vice-chairman M Kula Segaran, who is now the human resources minister.
Accompanied by Malay subtitles, the video shows Senthamizhan urging the Indian community to back Kula in the election.
In a Facebook post, Najib said the DAP flag could also clearly be seen.
“If DAP has no links to LTTE, why did Senthamizhan do a video with a DAP minister to help campaign for DAP in the 14th general election?” he asked.
Yesterday, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said there was no link between DAP and LTTE.
He told the Dewan Rakyat that the arrest of several DAP members was based on their alleged links to the group.
The assemblymen, P Gunasekaran and G Saminathan, were yesterday charged with terrorism under Section 130 of the Penal Code, about three weeks after their arrest in a crackdown on LTTE sympathisers.
