Yusoff Rawther back for more questioning at Bukit Aman
(FMT) – Muhammed Yusoff Rawther, who issued a statutory declaration accusing Anwar Ibrahim of trying to outrage his modesty, has arrived at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here for further questioning a day after spending eight hours with the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit.
Yusoff arrived in a black Proton Persona, dressed in a black shirt and cap. His lawyer, Haniff Khatri Abdulla, was nowhere to be seen.
It is understood that the police are looking to record further statements from Yusoff, whose allegations are being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, a provision on the use of criminal force to outrage a person’s modesty.
Yusoff, 26, was a research assistant at Anwar’s office in Petaling Jaya until earlier this year, when he claimed he was assaulted by the Port Dickson MP’s political secretary, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak. He has since slapped a civil suit against Farhash, although Farhash denies the accusations.
At a press conference streamed on Facebook Live on Dec 4, Yusoff claimed that a senior politician had committed a crime against him which he described as “un-Islamic, vile, insidious and morally repugnant”.
Anwar strongly denied the claim, calling it baseless and politically motivated. He also instructed his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh to take legal action.
