Annuar Musa: Zahid given mandate by Umno to make any decision in country’s interest

(The Star) – The Umno supreme council has given mandate to party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to make any decision in the interest of the country following speculation of a possible political realignment.

Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa confirmed that the party president was heading to Istana Negara.

“The supreme council has given mandate to the president, and the president has promised to keep us updated on important developments.

“At the meeting today, he has updated the supreme council on the latest political developments.

“He informed us that he will proceed to Istana Negara with several leaders,” Annuar said on Sunday (Feb 23).

Asked if those leaders accompanying Zahid were MPs, Annuar said it was understood that the matter involved parliamentarians.

“I can’t elaborate further,” he said.

Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said they were doing it in the interest of the country.
