Mahathir’s head is on the block

The game that Mahathir and Anwar are playing is not for the faint-hearted. You need nerves of steel and must be prepared to lose your head. The price you pay is very dear but the gain is priceless. Heavy is the crown that sits on your head, if you still have a head, that is.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Phew…what a Sunday it was! Even GE14 on 9th May 2018 was not as exciting as yesterday.

Anyway, what needs to be said has already been said and anything more I say will be just more of the same thing. So let’s just wait and see how events unfold over the next ten hours or so.

By teatime we will know whether Pakatan Harapan is still Malaysia’s government or a new government has taken over. If Pakatan Harapan falls, it would have been in power for just 655 days.

DAP is upset and hot and bothered and is whining about democracy, the people’s mandate, unconstitutional move, illegal and immoral government, and so on. That, of course, is a whole load of hogwash.

Out of the 58 Italian Prime Ministers since World War 2, or over 80 years, eight served more than five years while 17 served less than a year. Benito Mussolini is the only person to have served as Prime Minister for more than 20 years.

Mahathir has crossed the Rubicon and it is now a fight to the death

So, changes of government biasalah in a democracy. Hence DAP should clam up. Anyway, we do not know yet what is going to happen and probably by teatime today (Malaysian time) we will know.

But what we do know now, and which is a foregone conclusion, is that there is no longer any turning back. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has crossed the Rubicon and he now has to eliminate his rivals or else face the consequences. And the consequences are going to be direst indeed.

Do you think Anwar, DAP and Amanah can forgive and forget Mahathir and gang after this? Blood has been drawn and Mahathir and gang will have to pay in blood. Like it or not, this is a fight to the death and only one can walk away unscathed. The other will be beheaded, drawn and quartered. That is the normal punishment for he who goes against the monarch and loses.

The fate that awaits the loser later today

Before dinner today, Monday, 24th February 2020, 655 days after the so-called ‘New Malaysia’ was formed, either Mahathir or Anwar will be Prime Minister and the other will wish he was never born.

The game that Mahathir and Anwar are playing is not for the faint-hearted. You need nerves of steel and must be prepared to lose your head. The price you pay is very dear but the gain is priceless. Heavy is the crown that sits on your head, if you still have a head, that is.

But if I was a gambling man, and I am not, I would place my money on Mahathir. Enough said!
