‘Over 10,000 Kelantan PKR members to quit party’

(NST) – More than 10,000 Kelantan PKR members are expected to leave the party over recent turmoil among its leadership.

Former state PKR chairman, who is now Ketereh branch chief, Abdul Aziz Abdul Kadir said the 10,000 will leave the party in stages beginning this week.

At the moment, he said more than 1,000 state PKR members have quit the party.

“The 1,000 members who quit the party are from three branches: Kubang Kerian, Rantau Panjang and Ketereh.

“Many of us chose to leave the party (for several reasons, including) unhappiness over the party’s decision to sack our leader,” he said.

Abdul Aziz said that members of the three branches are the first group to leave PKR.

He said other members from other branches of Kelantan’s 14 parliamentary constituencies also plan to quit.

He said there are nearly 25,000 PKR members in the state.
