Zahid tells Umno members not to demand for positions in PN government

(The Mole) – Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said elements within the party should stop demanding for appointments in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

He said the reminder was especially directed at some “main players” in the party who have been vocal in saying that Umno should be given important ministries or more places in the administration.

He said party members should accept the reality that Umno is not the dominant party in the PN coalition and that it is now only a part of the government.

“We shouldn’t blame those making the decisions or put a burden on their shoulders that we must pressure them to get what we should have.

“I think there must be willpower at the bottom, ” he said in an interview in conjunction with the Umno’s 74th anniversary today.

Umno, as part of Barisan Nasional, together with PAS and Gabungan Perikatan Sarawak (GPS), formed PN with Pribumi Bersatu and several PKR lawmakers who left their party, in February.

Zahid also said that Umno is ready for negotiations to determine the future of its position in PN.

He appealed to party members to stop all personal political moves as these had created many problems for Umno, especially in its effort to recover from the loss in the last general election.
