Did the police try to block Najib from becoming PM in 2008?

My conclusion is the police were in the conspiracy to block Najib from becoming Prime Minister. So maybe the IGP, Hamid Bador, can explain why the police leaked my SD in 2008 within hours of receiving it. And the fact that in 2015 Hamid and the police were involved in the conspiracy to topple Najib strengthens my suspicion.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

A number of people whom I personally know were very unhappy with my posting “Saya minta maaf kepada Najib dan Rosmah” (READ HERE). One person felt I should not bend down on my knees to beg forgiveness from a thief. Another felt I am destroying my reputation by apologising to someone who was the cause of Umno losing the May 2018 general election.

Then there were comments on the internet asking me why did I do that Statutory Declaration (SD) if I know it was fitnah? Yet another said if I am really sincere about my apology and my asking for forgiveness, then I should do it personally face-to-face. One suggested I should have a video conference with Najib Tun Razak and Rosmah Mansor to give value to my minta maaf.

That posting reached about 600,000 people (I am not sure how many shared or forwarded it) so I suppose there have to be some who respond to it in a negative way. I thought the explanation I gave was clear enough, but apparently some felt I have still left some questions unanswered.

Actually, I have already given my very detailed explanation (a number of times) in the past. However, it looks like many are not aware of the full story — so maybe I can fill in the gaps and hopefully we can bury this matter and move on.

First and most important of all, I did not allege that Najib and/or Rosmah were behind Altantuya Shaariibuu’s murder. What I said in my SD is that someone had informed me that Rosmah was at the scene of the murder and that the police should investigate whether this allegation is true or false.

Gani Patail was the Attorney-General in 2008, who was also in the conspiracy to topple Najib Razak in 2015

Five months later, when I was under detention in Kamunting, the police served some documents on me (as evidence for my criminal defamation trial) that proved Rosmah had an alibi and was somewhere else gracing a function, which was attended by hundreds of people, at the time of the murder.

In short, Rosmah had an alibi and hundreds of witnesses could testify to that. And in those documents served on me were photographs to support the alibi.

Earlier to that, when I was being interrogated by the police, they asked me whether I was sure of my source, or sources, or was I set up to take a fall? I related in detail how I got that story and the officer interrogating me said he felt I was set up. I did not say anything. Then, later, when the evidence of Rosmah’s alibi was served on me, I realised what the police officer said was true after all.

Now, and this is the most important part, my SD was officially sent to the police through a lawyer. Hence it was confidential and for the personal attention of the officer who was investigating Altantuya’s murder — in short, “for your eyes only”.

Within hours my SD was leaked to a certain blogger and immediately it went viral on the internet.

The press then rushed to the IGP for his comment and the IGP said I had signed a false SD and that the police will be taking criminal action against me. The AG also responded by saying that they are going to charge me for signing a false SD.

Was Najib Razak the real target of my leaked Statutory Declaration?

Now, at that time, both the IGP and AG had NOT YET even seen or read that SD (they admitted so). Yet they announced I had signed a false SD and that they would be taking action against me. But they were basing the whole “crime” on a posting by a blogger who had been “fed” a classified document by the police.

How did the IGP and AG know what I said in that SD? And how did the blogger get his hands on a copy? Are not documents in a criminal investigation confidential and protected by the Official Secrets Act (OSA)?

Yes, the whole thing stank to high heavens. Something was not right here.

So, today, I am convinced that something does not add up. There are too many “funny” things going on. But the long and short of it is: I was accused of doing something I did not do and it appears like the police set me up by leaking classified documents, protected under the OSA, to give them an excuse to arrest me.

IGP Hamid Bador, who is fiercely anti-Najib, should explain why the police leaked my classified SD within hours of receiving it

But then, now that I reflect on what happened 12 years ago, the question that I now ask myself is: was this “leak” intended to give the police an excuse to arrest me, or was the real target Najib Tun Razak?

You see, if the police had not leaked my SD, no one would have known about it and it would not have damaged Najib and Rosmah (and I would not have leaked it myself, for obvious reasons). But by leaking it, and making it look like I made an allegation against Rosmah, this would damage Najib and Rosmah, and it would appear like I was the one who did this damage.

Anyway, everyone is much wiser on hindsight, and with the advantage of 12 years reflection, I have come to the conclusion that someone in the police was working against Najib — which was why they leaked the classified SD. In 2015, when the police (and current IGP) worked with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to oust Najib, I was even more convinced that the police were the hidden hands in the 2008 affair.

My conclusion is the police were in the conspiracy to block Najib from becoming Prime Minister. So maybe the IGP, Abdul Hamid Bador, can explain why the police leaked my SD in 2008 within hours of receiving it. And the fact that in 2015 Hamid and the police were involved in the conspiracy to topple Najib strengthens my suspicion.
