Confusion over MP’s letter
Two different versions of Datuk Shahruddin Md Salleh’s (pic) resignation letter have put the Sri Gading MP in the spotlight.
(The Star) – One version of the letter on his Facebook page stated that Shahruddin confessed that he made a “mistake” in supporting Perikatan Nasional but another viral letter, allegedly signed by him, claimed he would remain as a backbencher.
As a result, it has given rise to the confusion over whether he is still with the Perikatan government.
A source from the Prime Minister’s Office said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin received the second version of the letter.
Another source in the Sri Gading constituency confirmed that the first letter was mainly “a message” to his voters.
In the version tagged to Facebook, Shahruddin allegedly wrote that he had formed a political “ijtihad” (independent reasoning), which was not right by joining the Perikatan government under Muhyiddin.
