Don’t blame Mahathir, blame Anwar and DAP
Listen properly to what Mahathir said yesterday when he explained why he wants to become prime minister (or PM9) again. This is what he said, this is not what I am alleging. Mahathir wants to become prime minister (or PM9) again because he could not control Pak Lah and Najib — and he knows he cannot control Anwar if he allows Anwar to become PM9 while he becomes Senior Minister Mentor.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
I have noticed thousands of comments in the social media made by the Pakatan Harapan supporters a.k.a. Pakatuns — even by Haris Ibrahim a.k.a. Sam (READ HERE) — blaming Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the mess that Pakatan Harapan is currently in.
Why hentam Mahathir? It’s not Mahathir’s fault. Who made Mahathir the prime minister? Blame them lah!
Back in 2015 when Pakatan first adopted Mahathir as its mascot or pet monkey, we had already warned them of their folly. The Pakatuns thought they could ride on the back of Mahathir and control him and make him do what they want him to do — and then get rid of him later once they no longer have any use for him.
Mahathir confirmed yesterday he never intended to hand power to Anwar in May 2020
We told them this is not going to happen. We warned them you may be powerful when you are riding on the back of a tiger, but you can never get off because when you do the tiger will eat you.
Mahathir is NOT the problem. So why lepas geram against Mahathir? Why, in the first place, did Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, DAP and PKR make Mahathir PM7? Did we not warn you that this was a huge mistake and that you are going to regret this later?
We kept telling you again and again that Mahathir was NOT going to resign in May 2020 and he will not hand over the post of prime minister or PM8 to Anwar or to anyone outside PPBM.
In February 2020, Mahathir said he can support Muhyiddin for PM8, but not many took notice of this statement
On 14th February 2019, we published an article titled “The next prime minister will be from PPBM”. In that article we said:
I do not think Mahathir will hand the post of prime minister to Anwar. PPBM or Parti Pribumi Bersatu is really nothing much to shout about. What does PPBM have? PPBM has only ex-Umno people (those whom Mahathir calls “rubbish” or “sampah”). Other than that, the party has nothing.
PPBM does not even have the largest number of seats in Parliament. The number of seats PPBM has is equivalent to Mat Sabu’s party, Amanah, which is a party full of clowns. To get more seats it has to bring in cross-overs from Umno.
But there is one valuable thing that PPBM owns. And that is the post of Prime Minister. Without that post, PPBM has no value whatsoever. So why would Mahathir want to hand over PPBM’s “crown jewels” to PKR?
What the Pakatuns should do instead is bend down and kick themselves hard on their own backsides for being so stupid. Did they really think Mahathir was going to hand the post of PM8 to Anwar in May 2020? He would never allow Anwar to become PM even in May 2021, 2022 or 2023. Mahathir had no plans for Anwar to become PM, PERIOD!
Pak Lah (PM5) and Najib (PM6) were supposed to have been Mahathir’s proxies but he could not control them, which is why he took back power as PM7 in May 2018
Note what Mahathir said yesterday on the reason why he wants to become PM (or PM9) again. Mahathir said he does not want to become Senior Minister Mentor (or even Senior Minister Tormentor) because no one would listen to him.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi did not listen to him. Najib Tun Razak did not listen to him. And now Muhyiddin Yassin does not listen to him as well. Hence, if Anwar Ibrahim becomes prime minister or PM9, he, too, would not take advice from a Senior Minister Mentor.
Okay, open your eyes and ears properly. What is Mahathir trying to say here?
Mahathir is saying: although he may have retired on 31st October 2003, he still wanted to run the country by proxy. In short, Mahathir was not prime minister for 22 (or 24) years, as most Malaysians believe. He was prime minister for 39 years. The only thing is he was “direct” prime minister for 24 years and “indirect” prime minister for 15 years (2003-2018).
The only problem is, in those 15 years that Mahathir was the “indirect” prime minister, Pak Lah and Najib refused to take orders from him. Hence Mahathir had no choice but to get rid of them both and take over himself in May 2018.
There was no way Mahathir would allow Anwar to take over in May 2020 after two failed “proxies”
Yes, Mahathir was fed up with ruling by proxy. For 15 years he tried ruling through two proxies (Pak Lah and Najib) and both proved disappointing. Mahathir could not control Pak Lah and Najib. So, in May 2018, he decided to take back power and rule directly.
AND HE WAS NEVER GOING TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE OF RULING BY PROXY AGAIN!
And that is why Mahathir never intended to hand power to Anwar in May 2020 — or even May 2021, 2022 or 2023.
