Malaysia needs to look to China
The US would love for China to invade Malaysia so that they can send their military to Malaysia to “help” repel China. But then at what cost? Malaysia will be utterly destroyed and maybe one million would die. If I were the prime minister I would look to China as a friend (since they are too dangerous and too powerful as an enemy) and use this as “leverage” to get better treatment from the US. In other words, “date” both but do not “marry” either. But then I am not the prime minister so this is a decision Muhyiddin Yassin has to make.

(AFP) – Hong Kong is heading toward the same fate as Tibet after China imposed a new security law that criminalises calls for independence, the leader of the exiled Tibetan government has told AFP. Lobsang Sangay said China was deceiving Hong Kong the same way it cheated Tibetan people in 1951 when it promised autonomy.
Sangay said China promised to uphold the will of the Tibetan people under a 17-point agreement signed seven decades ago but instead unleashed an oppressive rule, undermining the former Himalayan kingdom’s freedoms.
“If you follow the Chinese occupation of Tibet and (events) thereafter you see it is being replicated in Hong Kong,” the 51-year-old told AFP from Dharamsala, India where the exiled government is based and Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has his home.
“One country, two systems was promised to Tibet….But right after signature of Tibetan officials, under duress, each of the provisions of the 17-point agreement was violated. So that’s what you see in Hong Kong. Basic law was promised to people in Hong Kong but what you see is a violation of all the provisions that were promised.”

Does Malaysia really want Chinese troops on our soil?
The main issue in Hong Kong is that the people want autonomy from China or one country two systems that they say was promised to them when Britain gave back the colony to China in 1997.
Hong Kong was leased or rented from China and the rental agreement expired in 1997, after which Britain had to return the colony to China. In the Agreement between China and Britain, it was agreed that China would retain Hong Kong’s capitalist system for at least 50 years.
In 1997, China was still Communist. In fact, just eight years before that in 1989, the Tiananmen Square incident had shocked Britain and Hong Kong as to what to expect once China takes back the colony from Britain. However, since the 1990s, things have changed tremendously when China moved towards capitalism and now is emerging as the greatest economic power or capitalist nation in the world.
About 30 years ago, China adopted reforms (the reforms that Pakatan Harapan only talks about but did not do when they were in power for 22 months). However, this was only as far as economic reforms was concerned. China told its citizens about the white-cat-black-cat analogy and warned them not to push for political reforms (which is what they are now doing in Hong Kong).
The US would love to send its army to fight China on Malaysian soil
China had learned from Russia. When Russia pushed for economic and political reforms in the 1980s — a.k.a. Perestroika or “Reformasi” — the country collapsed and broke up. That would be the fate awaiting China if they followed the path of Russia. Hence China would allow economic reforms as long as its politics did not follow Russia’s glasnost or “openness”.
Of course, the West supports what is happening in Hong Kong (the chaos). If they can push for political reforms in China or Hong Kong, then China would collapse just like Russia did — because a general election in China will result in the collapse of the Communist Party (CPC). In its place would emerge a democratically-elected government and, following that, China would break up. And the West, in particular the United States, wants to see China collapse because China is rapidly emerging as the new world power.
More than 150 years ago, America had a civil war where an estimated 750,000 Americans were killed. And the reason for this civil war was because the south wanted to secede from the Union. In short, the southern states wanted independence from the north.
If China wants to occupy the South China Sea there is really nothing Malaysia can do about it
It is the same in Hong Kong. The “south” wants independence from the “north” and Beijing does not agree. So why is the West and America so angry about that? What happens if Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan “fight” for independence from Malaysia? These four states do not need Malaysia. But Malaysia needs these four states. And if Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan fight for Merdeka, the federal government would send in the army and whack them to kingdom come.
The Hong Kong “independence” chaos is a proxy war between the US and China. The US needs to keep China busy or else they will take over the world. Hence the reason why Donald Trump is engaging China in a “cold war” — the same way they treated Cuba back in the old days (which was a proxy war or “cold war” between the US and Russia).
In the past (post-WWII), the conflict between East and West was over ideological differences — socialism versus capitalism. Hence the Korean War, Vietnam War, Cuban Missile Crisis, etc. Today, it is about world domination. And world domination today means economic domination. In a capitalist system, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. And added to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic crisis, the poor are getting even poorer.

Malaysia has to look towards who can financially benefit the country. Is it the West or is it China? Or can Malaysia, as the Chinese would say, drink two cups of tea (meaning be friends with both China and the West)?
Najib Tun Razak wisely chose the China route while at the same time remaining friends with the United States. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad chose to quarrel with both China and the West. If Mahathir had remained the prime minister, Malaysia would today be in deep shit.
As one-time Defence Minister Mat Sabu said, Malaysia is too small to quarrel with the big powers, especially with China. If China decides it wants to “own” the South China Sea then there is nothing Malaysia can do about it. Of course, Malaysia can choose to ally itself with the US in its “Cold War” with China. But then will America help us if China sends its army and navy to, say, Terengganu?
Malaysia cannot afford for the US to “engage” China on Malaysian soil
Anyway, do we really want America to “engage” with China on Malaysian soil like they did in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and many other countries? The US is famous for fighting wars on other people’s land while keeping its own territory free of wars (other than the American War of Independence with Britain and the American Civil War).
