The Chinese created Mahathir so shut the fook up

Hello! Apek! Thambi! Not Umno lah! Mahathir! And who the fook kept Mahathir in power since 1981? Who the fook voted for Mahathir in May 2018? You Chinese and Indians created Mahathir and allowed him to screw the country and you blame the Malays, Umno and PAS for it. So now we Malays are taking back the country and are putting you Chinese and Indians in the place where you deserve to be.

Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal says if not because of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Barisan Nasional (BN) would not have been brought down in the May 2018 general election and Pakatan Harapan (PH) would not have been able to form the federal government.

True! But what Shafie failed to mention is that if not also because of Mahathir, PH would not have been brought down in February 2020 and Perikatan Nasional (PN) would not have been able to form the federal government.

Yes, Mahathir single-handedly brought down two governments is less than two years. Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah tried for ten years and failed and finally re-joined Umno. Anwar Ibrahim tried for 20 years and failed and finally went crawling back to Mahathir. Lim Kit Siang tried for 53 years and failed and finally was forced to lick back his spit and suck up to Mahathir.

Love him or hate him, but never deny him the title of “Malaysian Politician of the Century”. What Mahathir has done over the last 70 years needs to be a compulsory subject for students of political philosophy and political science.

If Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli were still alive today he would probably rewrite his thesis because Mahathirism seems to have overtaken Machiavellian somewhat. Machiavelli, of course, is more refined than Mahathir who thinks that might makes him right or brute force allows him the right of way.

But then is this not the way bullies think: that just because you have a bigger gun that makes you the boss?

But what most people do not know is that it is the Chinese and Indians who created Mahathir. If Mahathir had depended on just the Malays, his political career would have ended before it began.

In 1964, Mahathir won the Kota Setar parliamentary seat on an Umno-Alliance Party ticket. Then he upset the Chinese voters when he said he does not need Chinese support to win the election. So, they abandoned him in the 1969 general election and Yusof Rawa of PAS won. Without the Chinese voters Mahathir was not able to retain his Kota Setar seat.

Let us look at all those general elections that Mahathir won after he became Malaysia’s 4th Prime Minister or PM4 in 1981.

1982 GE: BN won 61% of the popular votes. 1986 GE: BN won 57% of the popular votes. 1990 GE: BN won 53% of the popular votes. 1995 GE: BN won 65% of the popular votes. 1999 GE: BN won 64% of the popular votes.

Mahathir won five general elections and each time with Chinese and Indian votes — while the Malay voters in the Malay heartland voted opposition (Semangat 46, PAS and PKR). In essence, the Chinese and Indians kept Mahathir in power.

In the 2008 general election it was the other way around. Around 80% of the Chinese voted opposition so BN won only 51% of the popular votes. In the 2013 general election, 90% of the Chinese voted opposition so BN’s popular votes dropped to just 47%.

And in both the 2008 and 2013 general elections it was Mahathir who asked the Chinese to abandon BN and vote opposition. Matthias Chang can confirm this. The Chinese voted opposition in 2008 and 2013 because Mahathir asked them to do so.

Then, in the most “historic” 2018 general election, Mahathir personally led the opposition against BN, and the government fell. But even then Pakatan Harapan won only 46% of the popular votes. BN won 34% of the popular votes while PAS won 17%. Hence the total votes that Muafakat Nasional won was 51%. The only thing is, Muafakat Nasional did not exist yet in May 2018. So Pakatan managed to form the government with only 46% of the popular votes.

The bottom line is: no Chinese, no Mahathir. The Chinese created Mahathir. And Mahathir has done a lot of damage to the country both in terms of race relations and the economy, corruption included, of course.

Hence it was the Chinese who damaged Malaysia because the Chinese created the monster that damaged Malaysia. And you do not need to get educated in a Chinese school to understand that. Even those educated in national schools understand this.

Okay, let us analyse the 70 years of Mahathirism to understand what the implications to Malaysia are.

In the 1960s, Mahathir started his political life on an anti-Chinese platform. He fuelled the flames of Malay nationalism and told the Malays that the Chinese are taking over the country and that the Malays are being reduced to hamba di negara sendiri or slaves in their own land.

That decade of anti-Chinese rhetoric resulted in the “May” 13 race riots.

Mahathir then used the “May” 13 race riots to topple the liberal-secular Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, by blaming the Tunku for the race riots.

Then, in the 1970s, Anwar Ibrahim, who was known as an Islamic firebrand at that time, came in with his political Islam. This moved the normally liberal-secular Malays (at that time: as Merdeka era Malaysians will know) more towards the “Islamist” direction.

Hence, we had Mahathir pushing the Malays towards Malay nationalism and Anwar pushing the Malays towards political Islam — two very potent forms of politics.

Those were the 1960s and 1970s of the Mahathirism era. Then, in 1982, Mahathir and Anwar combined their “talents”. That was when Mahathirism became full bloom. Now look at the 1982, 1986, 1990, 1995 and 1999 general elections results, which are mentioned above, and see what the Chinese did over those five general elections.

The Chinese and Indians kept Mahathir in power. The Chinese and Indians made Mahathirism possible. And in those many decades Mahathir seriously damaged Umno, the economy and race relations and finetuned corruption, cronyism and nepotism.

Today, the Chinese and Indians say Umno destroyed race relations. Umno destroyed the economy. Umno is corrupt. Umno is a party of kleptocrats. Umno is racist.
