Will Pakatan really win GE15, as Anwar says?

So, what is Anwar talking about? Pakatan Harapan won GE14 not because of transparency, accountability, good governance, justice, human rights, civil liberties, freedom of speech, freedom or religion, freedom of thought, freedom of choice, and so on. They won GE14 through lies and deception. And that will not work anymore for GE15. In GE15, the non-Malays will vote against the Malays and the Malays will vote against the non-Malays.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Pakatan Harapan’s favourite words or phrases are kleptocrat government, rakyat’s mandate and reform agenda. These are the phrases they use to give an impression that they are fighting for a noble cause against evil.

Anwar Ibrahim said Pakatan is going to, again, win the next general election or GE15 and he gives the reasons why (READ MORE HERE: Pakatan will win GE15, says Anwar).

Pakatan Harapan’s GE14 success was because of lies and deception

What’s the difference between the Republicans and the Democrats? What’s the difference between Labour and Conservative? If you can figure that out then probably you can understand the difference between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.

Basically, in politics, you merely choose the lesser of the two evils. Pakatan Harapan was not considered better than Barisan Nasional. Pakatan Harapan was considered less bad than Barisan Nasional. So, in GE14, the people chose what they thought was less-bad.

Diantara lanun dan penyamun. Lanun robs you on the high seas and penyamun robs you on dry land. That’s the only difference between them: but both are robbers.

GE15 is going to be Malay interests versus non-Malay interests

Understand one thing. All governments are bad. There is no good government. It is just that some governments are worse or more-bad than others. Hence, in GE14, Malaysians did not choose a good government. Malaysians chose a government they thought is not as bad or was less bad than the existing government.

In essence, the original purpose of governments was to ensure that we all live peacefully with each other and that we stay safe from any internal and external threats. And, to ensure this happens, we needed a code of conduct or guidelines and a way to ensure people follow them and do not violate them.

Today, the purpose and role of governments is more complicated than just ensuring no one crawls into your wife’s bed at night or steals your jagung. And the more complicated it is the more it costs. It costs RM350 billion to run Malaysia (salaries alone come to RM100 billion), RM5 trillion to run the United Kingdom, and RM20 trillion to run the United States.

The government will still remain Malay after GE15

In that sense, on a per capita basis, Malaysia is cheaper (RM11,000 per Malaysian) compared to the UK (RM81,000 per British) and US (RM67,000 per American). The US is lower than the UK because of their accounting system where the calculation of federal spending does not include state spending — if not it would be exorbitant.

So, it does not really matter which government we have. They all rob us or steal from us. Who do you think pays for the RM350 billion a year that Malaysia spends? You and I, of course. And they pay themselves RM100 billion a year in salaries to run the country on our behalf, which is our money.

Whether you like Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional has nothing to do with which of the two makes a better government. Both are as good, or as bad. Whether you choose Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional depends on whether you want a Chinese government or a Malay government. Chinese (and Indians) will choose Pakatan Harapan while Malays will choose Perikatan Nasional.

The Malays will never again trust a non-Malay government

It is all about race, religion, culture and language. Chinese (and Indians) and Malays have different values. And they will vote based on these differing values.

So, all this talk about transparency, accountability, good governance, justice, human rights, civil liberties, freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom or religion, freedom of choice, etc., means nothing to the Malays when it comes to choosing a government. In fact, it means nothing to the Chinese and Indians as well.

All the Chinese and Indians want is asal bukan Umno, asal bukan Melayu, asal bukan Bahasa Malaysia, asal bukan Jawi, asal bukan Syariah/Hudud, asal bukan Islam.

So, what is Anwar talking about? Pakatan Harapan won GE14 not because of transparency, accountability, good governance, justice, human rights, civil liberties, freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom or religion, freedom of choice, and so on. They won GE14 through lies and deception. And that will not work anymore for GE15. In GE15, the non-Malays will vote against the Malays and the Malays will vote against the non-Malays.
