PPBM in Muafakat will aid ‘Melayu Raya’ concept, says PAS

(FMT) – PAS has welcomed PPBM’s entry into the Muafakat Nasional alliance which the party formed with Umno.

Yesterday, PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin had announced the party’s intention to join MN. The steering committee of the alliance said today an official invitation to join the pact would be extended to PPBM on Thursday.

In a statement today, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the Islamic party was confident that PPBM’s entry would strengthen the pact which was formed to unite issues concerning Islam, the nation as well as the Bumiputeras.

“We are confident that our alliance with Umno, PPBM will not only form a ‘Melayu Raya’ concept, but also strengthen unity among various races, religions and cultures. This cooperation will create a harmonious, conducive situation to national building,” he said in a statement today.

Takiyuddin said PAS believes the MN pact is the best form of cooperation for the Perikatan Nasional government.
