PAS grassroots welcome PPBM joining MN, says Takiyuddin

(FMT) – PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan today said PAS’ grassroots supporters accept the idea of PPBM joining Muafakat Nasional (MN) with Umno.

Takiyudin said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi themselves had invited PPBM to formally join the alliance.

He said there was no opposition among PAS grassroots since their party president himself had extended the invitation to PPBM.

“The Umno and PAS presidents wrote a joint invitation letter to the PPBM president. You can’t say that the grassroots don’t agree.

“The PAS grassroots accept it, no problem,” he told reporters when met after an event here today.

Takiyuddin was asked whether PAS grassroots welcomed PPBM joining MN after FMT quoted Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan as saying that Umno grassroots were against the idea.

Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, told FMT the Umno grassroots did not agree with PPBM joining MN, adding that the party must get the mandate from the supreme council before making a decision as it represents the party’s grassroots.

Muhyiddin had prior to this said that PPBM agreed to officially join MN.
