Don’t fall for PKR’s “lies” on NCR land – Uggah

(THE NEW SARAWAK) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat Sarawak’s pledge to restore native customary rights (NCR) land by amending the Sarawak Land Code is “lies” and “sweet promises”, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said.

Uggah said land owners should not fall for the promise made by state PKR chairman Larry Sng who was only trying to “fish for votes”.

“I read with great amusement the statement by Sng. PKR was in power for 22 months in the PH government but what had the party done for NCR landowners?

“As a matter of fact, one of its former members in the parliament had even called on the PH government to stop allocating fund for NCR land perimeter survey operations.”

He said this at a dinner he hosted last night for the Telang Usan community in conjunction with the Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) mini convention held here today.

Uggah who is a PBB deputy president said the same member too had been a vocal critic of the GPS government effort to resolve NCR land problems through Section 6 and Section 18 of the State Land Code.

He added that PKR was fishing for votes by harping on the issue but was optimistic that NCR landowners the GPS government’s role in resolving this issue.

Uggah added that the opposition, including the PKR ” have only lies to tell, only lies to use to try to topple the GPS government.”

“The people will not be easily taken in by lies and sweet promises”.
